Timpanogos Half Marathon Race Day

We got up early to watch the runners go by.
But not as early as they got up. They had to be there at 4am so they could
catch a bus up American Fork Canyon to the race start at Tibble Fork Reservoir.
The race started at 6am.

Danny went by just after Jenny and Kelly got there.
They didn't take a picture.
Jamie and Emily at the 9.5 mile mark in Cedar Hills.

Then Don came by.

Then off we went to meet them at the finish line
at American Fork High School.
We didn't make it in time for Danny to arrive.
He finished in 1:33 then ran for another 5 miles
so he could get in his 18 mile run for the day.

Afterwards Jenny and Kelly invited us
to join them at their association pool.

Ahh! That's better! Nap Time!

Kara's Horse Riding Lesson

Don and I arrived at Amy's house just in time for Kara to go to her horse riding lesson, so I got to go with her. YEAH!

Sadly I was messing with my phone when she cantered the horse for the first time.
But here she is riding bareback for the first time.

She had fun.

Then she spent about 15 minutes helping brush the horse she rode, Booger.
She also helped brush the other horse, Cloud, who started out as a dirty cloud,
but after the dirt clouds from brushing blew away she was more like a white cloud.

Thanks for letting me come Kara!

My New Project

Several weeks ago I started a new project -- scanning all of our pictures, putting them in scrap books, and making a book.

After a bit of a rough start, I am on my way. The first scrapbook -- our meeting, dating, engagement, wedding, receptions, and honeymoon - is now done. I have rescanned those pictures probably three times for different reasons -- but today it is officially done!

Now to move on to the next year of our life, including the birth of David.

Congratulations to Danny who has qualified to run in the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15, 2013!

He did this by finishing the Rhode Island Marathon in 2 hours, 59 minutes, 23 seconds -- five and a half minutes under the qualifying time of 3 hours, 5 minutes.

We plan on being there to cheer you on!

Look Who is Running Now!

Riding his bike to and from work is no longer enough. Now Don has taken up running.
This is at the Thanksgiving Point 5K just before they started.

This is the half-way mark -- in front of Thanksgiving Point.
Don is on the right, hiding behind the lady in black.

By the way -- these pictures are in order. Did you notice who is ahead?

They went around the south side of the main building, along the back,
and back up the north side of the building.
Unfortunately, I neglected to realize the amount of time it would take for them to
arrive at the finish line. I made a pit stop before heading back down and on the way heard them announce that Don had finished. Oops! Fortunately, Kristy got there in time to see him finish.
Four minutes later Jenny and Kelly finished.

And here they are, all done running. Don: 30:53  Jenny and Kelly 34:54 & 34:55
Kelly hesitated just a bit coming in so Jenny finished one second ahead.
And I just took the pictures.

Don came in 7th out of 10 in his age group.
The way Danny put it: "Only ten were tough enough to try."
The first one in his age group ran the 3.1 miles in 20 minutes.
Don felt like he did well enough to sign up for a 1/2 marathon on July 28th.
Danny and Jamie will also be running that one -- 13.1 miles.
Jenny and Kelly think they will do the 5K that day.
