We just got home from our anniversary trip and I just thought I would share some the fun we had.
As many of you know we have two traditions with our trips:
1) one of us plans the trip and the other has no idea where we are going. This year it was Don's turn to plan the trip and I was clueless.
2) we always go somewhere that has a temple.
This time we had a couple of temples to choose from, Seattle and Vancouver, BC. We decided to drive up to Vancouver.
We checked into the hotel and went out to see what there was to see, and this is what we saw first.
Oh yeah! The 2010 Winter Olympics were held in Vancouver. This is the Olympic cauldron. They were doing some kind of work on the area around it so it was fenced off.
Then we walked down by the water and watched some seaplanes take off...
...though we didn't get a picture of them.
On around the corner we saw this...
I'm guessing it is a giant water drop.... and this...
A lego whale.
Then there was the building with words on each balcony...
It says, "thecloudslookednonearerthanwheniwaslyingonthestreet
It turned out that there were more words on the other side of the building, too.
It wasn't until we were eating dinner that I remembered that the Vancouver Temple was just barely opened.
Did you know that this last weekend was Victoria Day in Canada? We kept hearing the people on the radio talking about it being long weekend, but we had no idea why. Then we tried to get back into the US on Saturday morning and this is what we found...
A two hour wait to cross the border!
It actually ended up being four hours. I did get some homework done,
but had to stop when the computer battery was about to die.
The drivers there were not very polite. They would pull up right behind the car in front of them to prevent anyone from even trying to merge into their lane.
By the time we finally got back into the US we only had 15 minutes to get to the Boeing factory which was an hour away. We called and they changed our 1pm tour tickets to the 2:30 tour time.
It was a cool 90 minute tour. We didn't get any pictures on the tour for security reasons,
but Don did take this picture outside the buildings.
Then we had to hurry back to Seattle for our 5pm reservation...
at the top of the Space Needle!
I have been waiting for 48 years to go up there.
We ate dinner as the restaurant rotated around. It takes 47 minutes to go all the way around.
Very yummy food. Very cool view.
Then it was back to the hotel for the night, church this morning, and then the plane ride home.
HAPPY 33RD ANNIVERSARY HONEY!!!!
